how reliable is filling a motor mount with m3 window weld?

It works. I have been using a polyurethane epoxy in my mounts. Thinking about selling the stock filled mounts soon if you are interested.

 

Pros-
Your motor wont be bouncing all over the place
Your lady friends will get a nice vibration

 

Fixed it for you. Polyurethane epoxy doesn't exist, except in some hybrid coating systems.

lol... If you weren't an automotive genius I would try to argue that comment. In the mean time, I will accept your word as fact and question the source that is getting me this so called "polyurethane epoxy".

 

What brand and where does it come from? There is epoxy, and there is polyurethane, but polyurethane epoxy (epoxy modified with polyurethane) is some pretty whizzbang polymer chemistry, and pretty new/rare right now. Whoever you're getting it from is probably calling it epoxy because it's two parts that are mixed together instead of just one single part(like the Window Weld).

 

Will check later. It is used in polyurethane flooring though.

 

Oh.. it probably is poly epoxy then, floor coating is one of the only applications I know of at the moment. That was the hybrid coating system I was talking about.
That should be significantly harder durometer then you would want to fill a motor mount with though..?

Are you getting it from IFPC in Norfolk?

 

yes it's well worth the time, my timing mount is filled and up until I took off my dampener, it was working fine. Then I had people driving my car to and from the track that didn't know how to drive 5 speed and the mount went to shit.

 

The trick is to cut most of the stock rubber out first; the stock rubber will destroy itself quickly if you don't. You'll find the weak link very fast with that much force and nothing compliant enough to damp it.
