Default Holes in the rear end of hondas

Im not a honda guy so im not sure of the answer to this question, butiv seen a few pics of differant civics with like 8-10 6'' holes in the rear bumper, whats up with that?

It's supposed to be a "diffuser". But really, for street cars, those are NOT needed.

someone on here explained it in a good way, so ill do it the same way...

your back bumper acts as a parachute, air gets trapped in there as the car moves forwards, parasitic drag= slow car down, holes allow air flow thro the bumper instead of holding it there creating drag. but like "thermal" said street cars have no real use for them.......

Aerodynamically, wind gets trapped in an under carriage. A diffusers purpose is to allow easier passage of air and minimize drag. Like I said, street cars dont need this. I can agree with full drag cars having this.

Why more Hondas have this? If I answer that, this thread will end up in SPO.
