Unhappy High revs at idle

Out of the blue this morning my car (01 focus zx3) starting idling very high about 4200 rpm and stayed that way even when I put the clutch in then it revs higher. Does anyone one have any advice as to what would be causing this problem. Also the car is comletely stock. Thanks for any help.

vacuum leak? I had a car once that idled between 500-1200rpm(big cams), anyways one day I got on it and next thing I know its idling at 2500rpm. vacuum line broke free on the intake side.

Clutch wouldn't have affected it though.

Thanks for the info. I tried making sure that all lines and what not were connected. My friend is about to head over to my house so I give it another once over to make sure all lines are secure.
