i have a 95 hatch and just put an ex engine in it... my problem is that my idle ranges anywhere between 1300 and 2000?? what should i do?

Check your idle stepper control valve....or the idle control screw (cant remember technical names for these)

I had the same problem. cleaned my throttle body and tightened the screw and boom problem solved.

could be the IAC or theres another sensor...
someone correct me if im wrong not trying to give this guy bad info.

the iac is new i busted the old one while transorting the engine... should i try to adjust the timing of the distributor... i havent cleaned the throttle body yet but it was pretty clean when i put in one and i did the swap about a month ago

don't mess with timing...
if the idle screw had never been touched. DON'T TOUCH IT!
you could tell if there is a wax seal over the head of the screw.

best thing to do is clean the tb out...
and then... reset the ecu in any of the assortment of ways to do it ie. disconnect ecu...
THEN... turn on car without touching gas or brake pedal and wait till the rad fan cycle 2 times...

ORRRR

check for vac leaks...

Vac. leaks or the FITV valve in the throttle body needs adjusting.

Is there any Check engine lights? Check for vac leaks and clean the Fast Idle Valve like he said ^^^
