Default Help, Closest Dyno Newport News area

I was on my merrily way about to bolt up Full exhaust setup. while on another forum a subject matter expert (well known in the industry) on Porsche engines has basically stated the following: That removing the factory exhaust and going to the following would produce no gains in HP and Torque and possibly have negative effect on performance. He is a "salesman" IMO. and only his parts produce perfomance. apparently a lot of people buy into this BS. therefore I need a baseline dyno before I do this. I just don't see myself losing to this guy. Can anyone help. Just need a quality Dyno close by. RWD, MID eng. sorry for the lengthy post. felt the whole story needed be told. Here is the mods that will make no difference according to him:

Headers:
Equal Length primary piping, mandrel bend
Racing merge collector for primary piping
42mm primary piping vs. 36mm stock piping
200 cells sport catalytic converters vs 800 cells factory
2 inch exit pipe vs. 1 3/4" stock exit pipe

Mid Pipe Bypass pipes:
Completely removing rear CATS
50mm versus 40mm diameter

Exhaust:
304 Stainless Steel this muffler is a straight through pipe design
there are no internal baffles

I think he's right in that you'll lost a bit of torque. At any rate, the go-to Porsche shop is also, I think, your closest dyno shop - Abacus Racing in VA Beach. www.abacusracing.com

Make sure you do the before and after run on the same dyno. Preferably on the same day if you can swap parts fast enough.

yes, I have been through this with the gentleman in question. It will be the same dyno, psi in tires checked, fender well gaps measure (ensure strap tension is same), same engine temps, IAT's etc. etc..

My setup was stated from the begining now he is saying I have to put brand new stock CATS on, monitor AFR, etc. or its not a fair test. wants to change the playing field.

Why would I buy a performance exhaust and purposely try to restrict the exhaust flow?

The question was will bolting up a performance exhaust increase HP and torque.

his answer was no and probably be worse than before. It won't be done on the same day, but hell if I see less than 4 hp gain I will consider myself the loser.

Also, the Dynapack will eliminate some of the variables you mentioned like straps and tire pressure.
