Exclamation Help!

Ok, this guy keeps tellin me he has/is gonna have a nine second car. He says he is gonna run 30 lbs. of boost with atleast an 11:1 compression ratio. I keep tellin him he should have about an 8.5 setup but he keeps tellin me he knows what he is talkin about. Every time I time I try to help him he always says his brother goes to the track a lot and that they are sponsored so "they have to know what they are talkin about". W/e I asked him if he's pushed the car yet and he asked what that meant Then he said as soon as they get some more injectors they are gonna take it straight to the track.............

I am pretty sure most of the very fast drag turbo cars have high compression. They run race gas.

Low compression on a high PSI turbo motor is for the street in order to run pump gas without knocking. Thats the ONLY reason. A drag race car cares nothing about street gas or the low compression it requires.

I was saying that most turboed cars with whatever the hp usually run about a 8.6 cr. I can start a link war just as easily, trust me...there are a lot more cars pushin over a thousand hp that have less than an 11:1 cr then do, the guy i was talkin about said he would have ATLEAST an 11:1 maybe even an 13:1 cr. And as soon as you show me a crew that has a 12:1 compression ratio runnin 30+ psi....I'll show you five that have less. Just because you read one article doesn't mean you can all of a sudden make a generalization of ALL fast cars.

you also have to look at the classes they are running in and what type of fuel they are using.
many of the engine builders wont tell the compression ratio and many times the ratio they do say is bullshit. it is possible to run a turbo engine without 8.5:1 compression (i don't know where you got 8.6 from, seems arbitrary). its all in how you tune it. it is very possible that he is running 12.1 cr and turbo, if hes tuned for it.
example. sr20det's running same boost and tuning, the one with the higher compression will have more power if the tuner takes into account detontation while tuning. i've seen it.
