Default head swap question

I have a d15b6 the crx hf motor and I was wondering if it would be safe to put a vtech head on it and use it as a daily driver and have no problems.

i'm 99% sure you cannot do this. the pistons only have reliefs for 2 valves, so if you put a 16 valve head on it the other two valves will slam into the pistons the first time it turns over. if you swap out the pistons at the same time, you'll be good to go.

Honda used the same pistons in the 8valve and 16valve motors. So your pistons have 4 reliefs in them even though you only have an 8 valve head.Yes you can do it and be perfectly fine, but your car will still be slow.Save your money and buy a swap.

not true... seen it with me own eyes. however, in the course of trying to find pictures on teh intarweb of oem hf pistons, i've discovered that apparently you CAN do a minime swap, at least with a non-vtec head... i don't feel like doing all the research, but apparently with mild cams there are no clearance issues.

I've never seen an 8 valve motor with those pistons.I stand corrected.

....you're going to build an hf?

That has to be the stupidest fucking thing i've ever heard. It's obd0, you can buy an obd0 b16 for less than the basic bolt ons you'll put on it....jesus christ.
