Cool Head cleaaning

What would be the best way to clean up a head as far as carbon deposits and such.

Is the head still on the block? I use a pressure washer, usually cleans it up pretty good. Just have to make sure you dry it completely so it doesnt sit with water on/in it. Only on aluminum heads though, I am not sure if this will work on others.

No the head will not be on the motor. Any special cleaners you would recomend.

I use just water. The pressure is what is doing the cleaning.
