H22A or GSRc
Hmm i am currently looking at purchasing a 92 prelude si. If i do, i am definetly putting a new motor in asap and im looking at 2 types of motors. a h22a or a b18c.
I am just getting into imports, i always had a thing for them but i purchased a Mustang, and yeah, getting tired of it so i want to get a import.
I heard the h22a has a bad problem with gear grinding.
and the gsr. i havent heard anything wrong with those, but what would be best?

Re: H22A or GSRc
H22 is your best option, as stated here the B series won't work, and even if it did the torque wouldn't be enough to carry the extra weight of the lude around.
Getting the Si is a good thing, as the Si tranny has awesome gear ratios. The gear grinding issue you discuss is inherent in all Honda's that are abused. Their transmissions aren't notorious for being the strongest, and can't handle a lot of power shifting and scraping.
If you need an engine/ecu combo and/or need someone to install it for you, feel free to call us. We have done many, many of these swaps

I was just asking because usually people research their question before asking.
But yeah.. the prelude is setup for the H23/H22. There is not any good reason to lessen your displacement/hp/tq. Even if you get the base model with the F series motor, it would be easier to sick a H in there than a B.
