Re: H-series or B-series??
I'll take a K. They're well known, make good power, and are a very, very well designed engine. I'd drop it like it's hot when Honda comes out with a performance-oriented direct injection engine though. H-series are nice, as are B-series, but they both get eclipsed by the design of the K-series. It's just plain, simple progress.
That being said, this whole argument depends on what you want from the engine, what you're going to use it for, and whether cost effectiveness factors into the equation. It's pointless to argue B, H, or K, because they're all different and they all have different strengths and weaknesses that make them suited for different purposes.

That could be A.O.K.
If I was building a Honda today, I would use a H-series engine because of it's cost. The H-series are overlooked by many tuners because they don't have the same following by the owners. Big name machine shops have done amazing things with the H-series heads. I've seen over 270whp with H-22 that had a stock bottom end. We all know that power is made in the head, though.
Edit: I wish Jeff's site hadn't been taken down when they moved to "Blue Print Manufacturing". He had tons of great information about the research he's done with all the Honda engines.

Re: H-series or B-series??
H or B ... B , for the H though QSD has an adapter plate now to use K series intake manifold's and there's a TON more clearance now with H swaps between the Mani and firewall , and Mani to hood clearance so thats cool and the K RBC Mani is making more power then the popular skunk Mani that most H guys run
