Default gas mileage problem.

when i first got my car (96 dx civic hatch) i got good mileage (compared to my previous vehicle). i was getting around 230-240 per tank. now the past couple of tanks have taken a shit. last time my fuel light came on, i tried to run it longer just to make sure it wasnt a gauge problem. that didnt work, because i ran out of gas. i got around 196 on that tank. and today, my fuel light just came on again, and ive only got 173 miles on the tank. id rather not run it down again. so if anyone has any helpful insight as to why my car is being gay, let me know.

thanks in advance.

give it a tune up and replace/clean your air filter. a dirty air filter will give you terrible milage

check your o2 sensors, your plugs should be good, unless you didnt use NGK's and all OE Wires, Cap, & Rotor. Replace your fuel filter, see if that helps

Damn Leigh, how big is your tank.

I get like 240 and that's when I get on it a lot.
