fuse keeps blowing?
okay guys i need input on this i got a few veiws but im looking for a certain few from others on here.
this is what happened
today all day this car was driven and vtec was hit plenty of times today and this issue never occured all day untill tonight.
the car started up fine all the lights worked and everything was fine. did a 2nd gear pull out a little longer than usual (vtec engage). all of a sudden the cluster light went out. driving lights went out. (brake lights still work) headlights still work, hence why i checked the fuses.
check the fuse sure enough the fuse for the driving lights, instrument cluster, and liscense plate lights is blown. okay replace it. everything is fine again.
few mins later another hit of vtec and the fuse goes again. try to replace it again and this time i replace it and once i turn the lights on they stay on for a few seconds then the fuse blows. and after a few repeated trials same issue.
what is it? dimmer switch broken ? or a relay somewhere? im just lost on this issue.
thanks
mike

Re: fuse keeps blowing?
Is your reverse sensor hook/wired up. Had the same problem with my car, except when I put the car in reverse, but all the same things were going out and blowing the same fuse. If that is good, just look for a loose wire that could be grounding out once the car starts pulling. Loose wire that makes contact with metal from the force of all that vtec.

you may have some wires touching somewhere and their causing more power to surge to the fuse than the fuse can handle when V-tec engages (i no its a little wordy). Could be a bunch of problems, but like i said, theres to much power coming from somewhere. Check the wire before the fuse for any splits or loosness.

yeah the car just got a clutch and shifter box put in so it may be the reverse sensor, ill check that.
yeah i was told last night it could of been some wires touching and traced a few wires and did not find anything out of the ordinary.
looks like today im loose ground searching..........

Re: fuse keeps blowing?
a short wont cause a blown fuse.

Re: fuse keeps blowing?
"Short" means short to ground. Not short to power surge.

Re: fuse keeps blowing?
hmm, ok well not to turn this into a debate, but what if the short is before the load but after the fuse. over current drawn through fuse equals blown fuse.
