If the cat is bad, then the o2 may be going bad. Maybe also pull the PCV valve and shake it...if it doesn't rattle, get a new one.

doesn't the ECU find a bad cat off of the second O2 sensor? if that's the case, that bad O2 sensor could be causing all your problems

dont gotta pull it. just clamp down on the hose with a pair of pliers while the car is running. if you hear a click, it's good.

it almost sounds like the ignition timing might be off too? that or its in limp mode like chahonda said....
