Question F20B help!!

So I have a 93 Del Sol with a F20B swap and H22 tranny. Last night I had to jump start the car to get it going. Today it started after a lot of hesitation. I was driving it earlier and all of it sudden it started to "jerk" (like I was stalling) a little and then just died completely. I popped the hood and it was smoking a little from near the bottom of the block( it looked like) and then it wouldnt start at all even with jumpers hooked up. Any ideas as to what the problem could be? Im really hoping its just the battery or starter or something easy, rather then it be the tranny or the block or something expensive.

Ive attached a picture of the motor and where it looked like it was smoking from

So the F20B swap isn't so "super clean" as you first thought....?

If its only the battery or something simple then yes it is as clean as I first thought. If its anything else then I was wrong unfortunately.

there is most likley a ground wire there somewhere.....make sure its tight..and it will be a decent sized wire..usually from the trans to the frame rail..

it sounds like it could have been losing ground...

and to make sure...make you a ground strap and connect it from the trans to the frame...just to rule out the fact that their may not have one...
