you need to check the switch in front of your brake pedal that actually sends the power to the lights when you depress the pedal. these switches are known to go bad every once in a while. if it has gone bad, then it will either send power all the time like your problem, or the lights wont go on at all.

how would he know its bad? Is it just a basic switch, like what does it look like?

you would have to test with a multimeter or you would see it visibly broken

yo there is a piece in the brake pedal that catches the brake switch and most likely it has dry rotted and fekll out so if you look at the end of the brake pedal where the brake switch is there will be a small hole you have to block that hole off and the brake light will work properly again

thanks for the advice. it is too dark to check it now, but i intend to do it in the morning. i will post the results. But i am also interested in why the harnesses look the way they do..on my car and the one at the junkyard. Kinda weird both cars looked the same..

i dont understand how u could pull the fuse and have it stay on, sure u didnt pull the wrong fuse. But i agree with the problem being the switch

because they are old and worn. the "grease" you are seeing stops corrosion and doesn't hinder the performance of the electricity. so, it's a good thing. nothing looks wrong with your harness other than the wire that's pulled out (which has been replaced, i know)
