Default Exhaust Wrap and Turbos

The other day i took off the heatshield covering the exhaust manifold and noticed that turbo spool is slower. With the shield on it was almost instant 10psi with a touch of the pedal. Would exhaust wrap bring back that instantaneous spool? What are the advantages and disadvantages of exhaust wrap for turbos.

My only guess is, the shield kept the heat around the manifold which means less energy was lost to heating the manifold up since it stayed hot with the shield..

and now with out the shield you are loosing energy that was used to spool the turbo to heating the manifold...

I dont think that just taking off the shield would create any noticible delays in spool though... unless a bolt was keeping a hole closed and now you have an exhuast leak...

Did you just take off the shield, or did you not put it back on after doin something else?

^^please explain. Also, yeah i did something else before i took the sheild off. I had to take off this pipe thats part of the emissions system before i could remove the sheild. Could that be the problem?

for lack of will to do total explaination, the exhaust gasses travel faster when hotter. the only thing is- mild steel takes a dump when wrapped after a little while.
