Default Exhaust question

I want to get a cat welded onto my mid pipe, but it's 2.36" and obviously they don't make cats in that size. Would it be easier to get this to work with a 2.25" or 2.5" cat?

Would def. be alot easier w/ 2 or 2.5in converter but IF its being welded in it shouldnt be an issue.
