You're turbo or super-charged, right?

A cutout on an NA 4cyl would be pointless, you might gain 3hp and lose 10tq.

Running straight header on my first Escort made a HUGE difference in power... and by huge, I mean 20-30hp, and a gain in bottom-end torque also. My top speed went from 121 to 131, and I could roll smoke from both wheels on a hard 1-2 shift. When I put a full 2.5" exhaust with no cat, no resonator, and 1 dynomax race bullet, I actually felt a loss in power and torque.

So no, you're wrong.

Not applicable to all NA 4cyl applications.

shutup. unless your cats were clogged or you're talking about one of the turbo merkurs, you didn't gain 20-30hp. People dont even gain that much on NA V8s with cut outs/dumps over full exhaust systems.

And unless you show me dynoed proof, I don't believe it at all. I had a 4cyl and drove it around for awhile with nothing past the testpipe. All it did was sound insanely loud, and go the same no-where that it went previously

You probably just thought it was faster because of all the noise it made.

yea, on hondas an open exaust makes almost no difference unless you're trying to eliminate all back pressure for boost or very high hp.

You're right. Myself and all of my friends have no idea what an increase in horsepower feels like. We just THOUGHT it rolled smoke from both tires on a hard 1-2 shift 'cause the exhaust was loud.
