Exaust question.

Heres the deal. The exhaust on my 93 prelude rusted out by my muffler and is loud as shit. I need to get a new system, but money's tight right now. The muffler center in va beach qouted me 500 for a stock exhaust, and 289 for a dynomax with a 2 1/4 in pipe. Is dynomax good for just an above stock exhaust? I don't want something loud or to draw attention. What do you guys suggest locally.(Va Beach) I would also like to keep it under 350.

Edit: Opps I spelled exhaust wrong in the title.

No need to change your whole system. If it is the piping thats rusted have the muffler shop cut it out and weld in a new pipe. If you need a new muffler and everything back then have them do that.
How much of the system did the $500 quote include? With that price it sounds like they are trying to rape you unless it is a honda oe system.

Well heres a pic of the curent problem its just the muffler. But before it all rusts or another hole forms i would like to just like to have the piping changed. Im new to the scene and don't know much about exhaust's and it sounded like a ass rape. The qoute was for muffler(247)pipe(169)and gaskets.

Definately sounds way too much. I imagine they would just be putting new pipe on up to your cat and not redoing the whole system. Definately find out what your other local shops will do it for.

Would doing a 2-1/4 pipe with a magnaflow muffler be worth it?

big als off indian river has always had great prices for me and good work. Keep it stock, imo. I had 3 cars with exhausts and going back to stock was so much nicer(unless your boosting).

just get an "axle back" system that will bolt right up to the stock b pipe. then youll have a fart can and the prob is fixed.

dynomax is crap. sounds like crap looks like crap.

For 500 you could have a brand new catback exhuast system. I think you oughta get one of your buddys if they work at a shop that sells exhuast pipe, to get them to get you 12 feet at MOST of exhuast tubing at list cost. Then take it to mitch's in norfolk and they'll do it for cheap.!!!!! New exhuast..under 250 for aftermarket

Thats the problem i don't want a fart can looking or sound pos. I want a low profile one. But stock is high priced as shit.
