Default engine overheating......almost

i was sitting in a drive thru today when i rolled my window down it sounded almost like a coffe maker. i turned the radio down and found out it was my car. its a 95 240SX BTW. i looked at my temp gauge and it was getting near the hot mark. i then turned the engine off, until the car in front of me started moving. once i did that the sound was almost like a drain sound and when it stopped, i started it back up. it was only off for a few seconds. but then everything was back to normal.

i've had this happen before to a way worse degree. it turned out being the thermostat getting stuck. since it has happened before should i worry about it more or should i just keep driving it.

do you think when i shut it off, the noise was air coming out, or do i need to drain it and refill it?

the noise was coolant being sucked from your overflow into your radiator. how long ago did you replace your thermostat?

Something may be causing your thermostat to go bad, or you have a low fluid level (which means check for leaks). So basically check your fluid, and if it's good then replace your t-stat again.

im going to go with air in the system, if you didnt let the air out when you filled up the coolant, a whole lot of problems can arise such as overheating, looping idle, and for me i had 2 radiators pop
