Default ebrake question

I just dropped my motor back in the car. It was sitting with everything under the hood and under the car apart while the motor was getting worked. We put the motor back in and hooked everything up but for some reason when I pull the ebrake up it won't engaged, it just goes back down. Anybody know why or how to repair it?

I wanted to know what the problem may be so I could get right to it. If its cake, how about some advice.
