DSM sensor help
I have a sensor that doesn't seem to connect to anything. It is right behind the air intake filter and it has two small hollow ends that branch off from it. Is it supposed to be hooked into anything, or just sit there?

its your factory boost controller...do you have an aftermarket one hooked up?
if so, its just there plugged in to keep from thowing the cell light.

I dont have an aftermarket one. So its not supposed to be plugged into anything? That doesnt make much sense to me. hmmm.

is your wastegate connected to anything? ie. intake manifold etc.? you could just be running of the factory wastegate like i am (i have the forced performance 17psi acuator).

I was looking at it, and I followed the wiring to another clip that hooks into the MAF. By the way, this is a 1G dsm if that matters at all.

Alright cool, I found a picture. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ayphotohosting . So its the boost control solenoid, are those two branches supposed to connect anything, or just chill there?

They are normally hooked up for the ecu to limit boost.
Most people unhook them to replace with a boost controller, others remove the restrictor.
If you wanna hook it back up it can't hurt to but your car won't hate you if you leave it unhooked. O yes and when I say unhooked I mean from a vacuum line, it must be electronically hooked up or the car will most likely code.

if the vacuum lines that were connected to the bcs are unhooked and left in the open air then you are probaly running somewhere in the range of 23 psi when you floor the gas. not good.

Yeah thats why I changed it to most likely just before I hit the submit button.
Figured the 1g's might be nice about cels, most 2g's sure aren't.
