what is the the differences in the two heads. i've been told 2g head with 1g internals is good for a 6 bolt swap. or is it best if you do a 1g with 2g internals.

Factory 1G heads flow better due to larger intake ports.
There are shops that claim better flow out of severely ported 2G heads because they can raise the port and create a better entry angle on the intake valve. However the mod costs over $2K and requires the injectors to be placed in the manifold like later Mitsu motors. Brent Rau uses a CNC ported 1G head. If it works for him it should work for almost anyone.

The ideal combination is to have a 1G intake and throttle body on a 1G head swap. You want to keep the 2G exhaust manifold and 2G TB elbow.

The 7 bolt bottom end of a 2G engine has weaker connecting rods. The 6 bolt 1G rods are much thicker and will handle 600 HP. However there are some electrical issues you must address to put a 1G engine in a 2G, but it has been done many times, is low cost and well documented on DSM forums. A 2G motor will not bolt into a 1G because there is no provisions on the block for the 1G chassis motor mount layout.

The 1G has 7.8:1 comp pistons and the 2G 8.5:1. The 2G pistons are the preferred choice for a cheap upgrade over the 1Gs. However 1G rods have to be machined to fit the larger wrist pin of the 2G piston. 2G piston/1G rod combos also have been done many times.

yeah i have a 97 6 bolt 2.4 stroker. with alot of mods but. what is the difference in the flow of the two stock heads i have cams. and do you have a numder is so pm me .

If you feel like porting the 2G head, it works great. If you don't feel like porting it, 1G head is better. Only difference is a little more low end torque with the 2G head. With a stroker the 1G head would be much easier if you don't plan on a high dollar port job.
