okay im bout to buy a b16a for obd1 for my 93 hatch. im still new at this what is the diff between cable and hydro trans and does it really make a difference?

well everyone hasa there preference and everyone is also going to tell you which on is better than the other. but do some reearch and then go from there. i say just go with what tranny you feel you should and drive it till you kill it and then find a hydro/cable and swap it out. other than that do some research and find the pros and cons. GOOGLE not that hard

make sure whatever it is ,that its a b16 tranny if going with a b16 block, b16s are some shit if there stock, its like d series with an extra cam, get some that will keep up. get atleast a gsr or something with power like b20, b20vtec, ls, ls vtec, gsr, poor man typer, type r, h22...

the trans will keep up with the stock block. get a tranny that hasn't been molested and get a decent clutch, also learn how to drive. you can go with other trannys as well. but the diff trannys just have diff gear ratios and what not thats all. but again are you planning on dogging the shit out of the car or daily it and having a little fun?

What this guy said. Essentially, a '93 Hatch is meant to employ a hydraulic transmission. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend running anything else. Stick with hydro kid; having used both, I can say for a fact it's the better option of the two. Good luck.
