Wheres a place to go to get a free diagnostic check for a check engine light?

My check engine light for my 99 civic EX came on today and I know there is a way to do it yourself but I would rather have someone else do it. Does BapGeon on Laskin or Tuners Edge do free diagnostic checks and can tell me what code its throwing and what it means?

 

i have a scanner and i can do it
most advance auto parts can do it as well

Ok I guess I will take it up to advance auto parts but I hate those places.. I think I know more about cars then those guys do sometimes.

 

no he isnt in guam, and just get them to pull the code, come back and get online, ask one of us or search honda tech.....

Ok I got the diagnostic done and it gave me code p1362.

I looked on honda tech and this is what I found.

P1362 Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor A (Top Dead Center (TDC) Sensor) No Signal
P1362 Top Dead Center (TDC) Sensor No Signal


what the heck does this mean?

 

your distributor is f'd up probaly

 

suggestions? should I take it to a shop or should I have someone on here look at it? Recommend anyone?

did they clear the codes? is the check engine light still on? from what it sounds like you may need a distributor. id clear or have someone clear your codes and drive it around for a while to see if it comes back on. i can clear them if needed. if it does turn out to be the distributor, i believe that i may have one
