Degree Cams
Just need a little help, I recently bought the Mike Belben cam degree kit, I am running Crane Stg 3 cams, and the cam card does not really give me the info that I need. Called Crane, left message, searched honda-tech did not understand. Here is the deal, I had the head shaved and the blocked milled. My degree will be off just a bit, number 1 pistin is at tdc, vtec is locked in and the cams are off by maybe 1/8or less of an inch from also lining up. I am really trying to get my car on the road and then get it tuned. According to the cam card with vtec locked and valve lash set at 0, I am supposed to read 488 intake and 472 exhaust. I rotated the crank and with the max lift I get a reading of 473 intake at 107 degree on the crank and 457 exhaust. I am off according to the cam card. Also I do have BDL cam gears and if I adjust the cams wiill it make up the amount I need to get to 488 in and 472 exh. Your help will be much appreciated. Oh before I forget this is an all motor setup and running with 12:5:1 pistons and I have a .072 H.G to make up for the shaved head and block. Thanks Shawn....I can be reached at 757-241-0260....

I'm guessing that if you had the head shaved and have a non-OEM head gasket, you are still different than the stock cam-centerline to crank-centerline distance and you need to degree the cams to compensate.
A $250 cam degree kit like that with three dial indicators means that the dial indicators are probably complete garbage (decent ones are >$150 each), but shouldn't be off by 0.015 no matter what.. That's why I'm saying you probably either have a measurement error or you need to degree the cams. Nice kit though; it's really cool to see stuff like that out on the market in ready to use kit form.

Yeah, I am just a bit, maybe my valve lash was not set all the way to zero.....I will have to check my lash again and run it....also maybe adjust my cams also....thanks...
Well found out that the cams that I have are engraved 253-0014, but the cams gross lift read the 253-0012 stage 2 cams......and pretty much everything else reads the stage 2 cam specs.......But the cams are engraved with the stage 3 number.....Waiting on a response from Crane today.....will also try to call...
