Vapor lock FTW! My dads 88' Integra does the same thing every morning, I just rev it nice and high and it eventually starts.

 

Check the ECU fuse as well..... actually check all the fuses...

 

u jumped timeing ... had the same prob on a 93 cx hatch with mini-me swap

 

Take fuel line off, use a rag, turn the key to see if fuel pump primes. If you get fuel coming out you know its not the pump. You can get the spark plug check, not sure what the name is but I have one that you plug into the wire and fire the car to see if it gets spark. If you do you know the dizzy works and the wires are good. If you are getting spark and fuel then its either bad timing or a bad sensor.

 

simple, check for fuel as JBee99 said..actually as long as u turn the key to on and u hear the "bzzzz" from the fuel pump then it primed and there's fuel for starting...spark, take one of the plug wires out and aim it at something metal, crank the engine w/ someone watching the metal thing (make sure there's no fuel vapor floating around) and check for spark, if both are present then you've got a timing problem or ur iac (idle air control) valve isn't letting any air get in (i.e. its stuck shut)

 

i appreciate your help fellas. the fuckin ground wires at the thermostat housing rattled loose. thats why it would start sometimes. i put a new 10mm in there and were good to go.

 

Thats good man, try to return that dizzy man, that was a nice dent in your wallet for nothin.

 

How can you rev it nice and high with out it starting, but I know what you mean by vapor lock. Old 86 f150 used to do that.
it sounds like a loose ground

 

I dont know about NAPA but most stores have a no return policy on those kind of things. If nothing else im sure next time hell keep it simple before buying parts hoping it will fix the problem.
