Ive known for a while that my manifold has a crack in it and i looked at it today and its getting worse. We have tried to patch it b4 with some prety bad stuff from autozone i think, and we just patched it about 5 minutes ago w/ something else to hold off until i decide what im gonna do. My options are to either buy a new manifold or get headers and a new exhaust. The manifolds for the d16y7 are designed horibly and have the cat in the manifold... There like anywhere from 350-600(i think thats what they were last time we called around). I could also get a a set of headers an put a new exhaust syetem on it, but i would have to move the location of the cat/o2 sensors and we dont exactly know how to do that so we would take it somewhere. anyway i'm just asking if anyone has any advice to share on the best/cheapest of my 2 options? Also my exhaust under the car is in pretty decent shape right now, but if i was to get a whole new exhaust i would probably go ahead and get something other than the stock muffler for a little better flow.

 

join the club man..mine did the same thing..i put a cheap ass used ebay header on mine..only problem is..i have no cat at the moments..is ur crack from your o2 sensor down the side of your cat..mine was about a 5 inch long crack?

haha yup, its on both sides from the o2 sensor. its pretty big 2. it proably is about 4 or 5 inches long . i guess it was a pretty common thing to happen. I think im leaning to the wole nex exhaust system since i havent really done anything 2 my car and id like to start. How much do headers usually cost? like decent ones and ebay ones?is there really a difference?

 

i dont think theres a huge difference in performance...but i got my ebay one off here used for $40

does the ebay aftermarket headers throw a check engine light. i think i am gonna go the stock route. i think its just a matter of how extreme of heat you see. you wash your shit while its hot. the iron is prone to cracking. my neighbor has a ek and she has close to 300k and its all stock.

 

no my ebay header does not throw a cel..as long as you re-wire the second O2 sensor correctly..my stock one cracked with only 90k on it..and i never sprayed the exhaust manifold while it was wet..so idk wut made it crack
