D16 with tapping sound
I have a 2000 Civic DX with a D16Y7. It has this wierd tapping sound at steady throttle in the 1700rpm to 2300rpm with a steady engine load. If the the rpms are higher or lower the sound goes away. If throttle input changes, the sound goes away. I thought I might need my valves adjusted so I had that done and the sound is still there. Does anyone know what might be causing this? I hope it is just the head and not some other part of the engine.

I get no noise at idle, even when it is idling at 1500rpm in the morning. I will try to listen for it during decel next time I take a drive. What part of the tranny could cause it make that noise? Syncros, clutch, flywheel, gears themeselves? I have been getting a few unwarrented grinds lately going from first to second at random rpms.
