D16 Q's
I got a D16Y7 NON-VTEC Block.
Am thinking bout buying a D16Y8 VTEC Head port - polish.
If i drop the VTEC head on the NON-VTEC block, will i have to run a oil line like the LS/VTEC Conversion? Or straight drop in & all i need is a VTEC ECU?

here's a PM chahonda sent to me a while ago about mini-mes
well i have done quite a few mini-me conversions. you should look to gain around 20 hp or so. you will either need a msd rpm switch, a apex v-afc, or the correct ecu (p28) and have it wired in so that you get the correct fuel and timing maps for vtec.its not too difficult. you will need a 92-00 1.6 timing belt to go with the conversion. these motors will yeild a fairly high compression ratio due to the smaller combustion chambers of the d16 heads.
the down side of the mini-me is the 1.5 rods. they have been known to fail prematurely from being weak. the d16z6 or d16y8 can be swapped out in place of the mini-me and has more potential for increased power they will easily hold a 75 shot of nitrous with a better fuel pump. with out the pump a 65 shot is the most that can be used with out damage to the motor. i have done quite a few swap as well.

there is an oil squirter in the back of the head that must be removed, you will need a d16z6/y8 headgasket, z6/y8 timing belt, and the p28. after that it all just drops in w/ no problem. just a matter of 10 head bolts.

actually the y7 motor does not have an oil control jet/oil squirter.
its a fairly easy swap. you just need a y8/y7 head gasket, and you can use the same timing belt. if it it got high milage on it id just go ahead and replace it.
the p28 would be the best ecu to use but you have to get an adapter harness. just make sure that the p28 is not for an automatic or you will have a cel. there hope that helped!

My car gots 44,000 miles on it, and am also planning on getting the p28 also along with the Hondata system.
Now can it be a aftermarket head gasket? I want to lower the compression for boost, which am boosting now anyways.

mini-me conversion is good if you stay NA but if you plan on turbo or nitrous i would just put the d16z6 or y8 in because of the rods. It woudn't be that much more expensive.
