Default D15B vtec problem

Just put in a JDM D15B and cant get the vtec to work,I have a p28 Auto ecu but its on a 5 speed any ideas????

I cleaned the screen on the vtec solenoid already.
If we give the solenoid power while the car is just sitting there idling it shuts down, also if i rev the car up it starts to break up around 5000 rpms.we tried giving the solenoid power at that rpm point and it seemed to run like crap started breaking up real bad.

What else tells the computer to let the vtec work or not?

I believe the p28's come in Vtec and non-Vtec. someone confirm this??

You might just have a bad solinoid, that happens alot. But you might also have a bad ECU also.

The solenoid clicks when we give power to it so i guess its ok??????

The motor is in a 94 Civic CX I changed the entire cars wiring harness to a 94 EX so the vtec wires are in the engine harness and the cars harness.

I have changed the computer i had a bad p28 to start and changed to the current one.

I just cant figure it out.

HELP

I bet you got something hooked up wrong cause those connectors on the vtec solenoid side are a like. you might have them messed up. specially if it only goes up to like 5800 rpm.

Wade, I can convert your ECU to manual, PM me. You can't use a auto ECU on a manual tranny engine, the ECU is looking for stuff that isn't there, and won't let vtec engage. They're easy to convert though, and it doesn't have to be chipped. By the way, if you have a D15B, you need to use an O2 sensor that will work with a P28, the D15 uses a P08 ECU and the O2 sensor isn't heated.
