crx swap help
car is fixed, please close thread!
ok, i'm working on my buddies crx, it's a dx body, was dual point and i just converted it over to multi-point...car is running and running check engine free at that...but the problem is, it's a d15b7 bottom end with a y7 head on it...the head has a d15b7 cam gear and unsure of what timing belt it has on it but it's tight...the timing marks are all lined up but it's still acting like it's off time bad...is there a specific way to time that motor and head? and what cam gear/timing belt is appropriate? and another thing...the cat is glowing orage like it's stopped up, but it's not, its spitting exhaust out good, but hott, what else will make it burn that hott?

I think you may wanna try going here... www.d-series.org. There's a lot of knowledge about weird swaps/head-block combos/cams. If something needs to be done to the timing, there's prolly a thread already made about it.

Re: crx swap help
You may wanna use the cam gear from the d15 and timing belt from the d16 head as far as I know... Some people say use the d15 cam gear, others say d16. The cam gear from the d15 would correspond to the crank... Because crank rotation does not equal cam rotation. Do some research, and look through the old articles on d-series... You may have to advance/retard timing on the dizzy, and a tune will help. Swapping the head changes compression, you definitely wanna tune.
