I have a Corolla (of course) and I have installed coil-overs on a 97.
There is a Collar around the upper body of the struts that needs to be removed or ground down to an appropiate size for the coil-overs to fit over.
Also, on the rear struts there is a bracket in place for the brake lines. Remove the brake line retainer, pull down (not forcefully) on the brake line until its out of the way. Use a hack-saw (or other fine-tooth saw) and cut trough the bracket. Use a pair or pliers to bend one side of the bracket up and swing the brake line up and out of the way. This will allow you to replace the strut without disconnecting a brake line. Put everything back in place. Even with the cut the bracket will hold the brake line securely.
Lastly.. be weary of the rear sway bar end links. Use an correct size allen wrench to hold the bolt part in place while you remove the nut. Also spray it down with lubricant before hand.
Tools you'll need
-19mm wrench
-3/8" ratchet
-1/2" ratchet
-19mm socket (3/8 and/or 1/2 drive)
-12mm socket
-14mm wrench
-10mm wrench
-pliers
-allen wrench (cant remember size, what fits best)
-17mm socket
-17mm wrench
-Good size flat head screwdriver
-Spring compressor tool
-hack saw
-a friend/buddy
thats the basics.. theres some other things you may need as well.
