if a gsr motor is dropped in compression with JE 9:0.1 with a +20mm over bore, how bad is the drop in power? i've had a loss of power since then, specially when vtec kicks in. before my vtec will kick in and it will pull hard, now it kicks in but there is no difference in power.
question #2. if i pull the head and get it shaved, will i be able to pick up some compression back again, without having to mess with the bottom end?

Yes, if you shave the head, you will increase your compression, but marginally at best (.1-.2 in the CR). What did you drop it from, 9.5:1?

to make a long story short, i had the car built for turbo, i had the kit and everything but i had to move up my family to VA so i needed to bring the car back from fl, so i didnt have time or $$ to keep it in florida and get it boosted & tuned, so i had to tell the shop to tune if for all motor for the time being. after i got the car here shit just fell off, so that why i'm tryin to get the most out of the motor now. the reason why i ask is becuz a buddy of mine got a LS/Vtec with the same pistons i have/same gsr crank and his shit pulls harder than a mother fu@#$^.

the motor was stock before i dropped the comp. i believe it was 10.1
can you explain to me a lil more about the head shaving thing. PM if necesarry.thanx
