cold start
When i start the car in the morning, all u smell is gas. The smell is so strong you get dizzy by just walking past the car. Also when I dont smell gas, the exhaust fumes are strong too. I was told this is "cold start". How can this be fixed. Please help.

Re: cold start
He says he's smelling gas so strong it's making him dizzy, that's why I say he's got a gas leak somewhere. I smell gas when my car runs too, but only a hint of it and only near my exhaust. I know the ECU adds a little more fuel for cold starts, but you still shouldn't smell it all over the place.

Re: cold start
Most likely its a sensor problem. The ECU just does what its told to do based on the sensor data that it gets, so I'm guessing you have a sensor going bad. Usually the coolant temp sensor is my first guess; if its out of spec than the ECU will see a much colder starting temp than it should. There are other likely suspects also, but most of those will noticeably affect engine smoothness, etc. Make sure that your air filter is clean too. When was the last time you changed the plugs, plug wires, etc.?
So it's idling fine, it's just running really rich?
And yes, it is possible to have the car run that rich, it's NOT a fuel leak. Like I said, the ECU just does what its told.
