Clutch pedal sticks to floor sometimes

Clutch pedal sticks to floor sometimes
Sometimes while driving my DA the clutch pedal will stick to the floor after changing gears. Doesn't matter what gear. Had new clutch cable and clutch put in last year but when the trans ant out and had the clutch put in the other tranny by mccartys in Newport news like the week after I got it back my clutch pedal went straight to the floor. So I adjusted the cable until the pedal popped back up. Every other month or so I have to re-adjust the cable tension on it so the pedal doesn't stick. Now I have no more adjustment. Is my clutch going out or has my clutch cable been stretched? Not to savy on cable trans. Need it fixed cause it's my dd and I drive 60 miles a day to and from work. Any input would be helpful. And please keep negative comments off my thread. Thanx.

I would check the external slave cylinder on tranny for leakage first.. If you see any dampness whatsoever replace it or bleed it and see if pressure holds for a couple days..

Re: Clutch pedal sticks to floor sometimes
A cable actuated clutch is pretty simple, and there are very few things that can go wrong. It works the same as the brakes on the average bicycle, and there aren't really any more or less moving parts. It's just a clutch pedal, a cable, a release arm, and a clutch.
If it's sticking to the floor, it's likely out of adjustment or the cable needs to be lubricated. I can't imagine that one of the adjustment nuts is backing off, because you would have seen that by now. It could be a stretching cable, which is possible if it's an aftermarket cable. I can't remember if the release arm would be able to slip out of alignment. If the flywheel wasn't machined properly, the clutch might not engage properly after it becomes worn a certain amount, and not engaging properly can accelerate wear. That problem would go back to the clutch replacement or transmission replacement, depending on what was done during those processes.
Oh, and check the return spring for the clutch pedal. If that's weak or broken, the pressure plate will become the return spring.

Yeah I know I don't. Was just satisfying the posters comment. Lol. Ok I'll check the spring. And the cable was purchased at advance auto. I'll also try lubricating the cable. It also feels stiff when you press the pedal in
