Default civic high speed vibration

have a 95 civic cx that at speeds above 40mph or so has a vibration. I changed out the axles three times with new ones, even changed the tranny to a dx. The dx tranny has a lot of miles on it. Is it common for civic tranny input bearings to go bad? If I jack the car up I can move the tranny side of the axle up and down a little. If my tranny is fucked how much for a rebuild? 218-4120

Try Tie rods or ball joints. Could also be an out of balanced tire or bent rim.

First thing that comes to mind is try getting your wheels balanced. If it was your tranny I would think that it would vibrate at any speed.

civics shouldnt go over 40mph.. doncha know!!

i wouldnt look at the tranny just yet, i would check into a warped rotor, un balanced tires, bent rims, bent spindles, etc.

its not tires or rims, I jacked the car up and pulled the tires off, and it still did it. I've also replace the rotors. I'm going to try wheel bearings next, I just wanted to see if anyone new how much it would cost to have my tranny rebuilt, just in case it went that far.

Why would you rebuild a tranny like that. It is better to just go and get one from a japanese auto sales depot. They go for around $300canadian here.

The wheel bearings would make a more noticable roaring noise or something like a low pitch whining noise. Check balance of tires, tires themselves (may have a broken belt), rotors (if the pulsation happens when you brake), What im thinking is that is to do with your tires or rims.
