Changing brakes on the Prelude HELP!!
I am replacing all the pads on the 4 corners. I installed and compressed the pistons on the calipers. I did the front first and went to the back. All the callapers were disconected and I accidently bumped the brake peddle. the rear pistons on the calipers expanded all the way out. I tried with all my might and could not compress the pistons to fit the new pads on. Are the rear calipers locked??? Help this is so easy yet the pistons are not compressing.
I'm pretty sure they are sorry. I've had that happen to me once too and when the piston comes out so far it won't go back for some reason. I'm not exactly positive if its locked or not, but from what I know the only fix is new calipers.
Mark, I don't think you have one, but get a long straightend crowbar and slide the old pads back in. Stick the end of the crowbar between the rotor and the old pad and push.
most honda brakes have pistons that need to be screwed in not pushed, thats why they arent flat. you take a screwdriver and turn them to compress them.
cool, I am going to do that, man I have to learn alittle more about hondas lol.
I thought those calipers were toast, I need to stop working on my fbody lol
