Shit, I've blown out sidewalls, had tires un-seat, destroyed a $400 wheel... it's just part of the game.
I do think it's funny when people act like they can avoid every road hazard, or make it seem like it's safe enough for tards like the OP to go out and do this just because he saw it on a car in a blog that never gets driven.

haha i know what youre saying. i understand the risks that go with it and i KNOW you cant avoid everything. i think you just came across as condescending or something, im not sure. im not running expensive wheels so its whatever... and 13inch tires are real cheap
edit: lol and the i do what i want was more or less a joke

I don't understand why people do this. Either put the correct size tire on, and get added grip, or put a narrower wheel on and get the benefits of less unsprung weight. Why do you want the worst of both worlds?

The only benefit other than the style of it is that it does help box out the sidewall which can make the loss of tracion more predictable in drifting. For me, I needed way more inner clearance for my angle kit, and it gives me more feedback into the steering. No way will I pretend it helps in an actual performance scenario, as it feels more likely to break traction more easily to me. Definitely not functional for a grip setup.

think op got tired of reading...
just buy the tire that is supposed to be used on your wheels rather than try and jerry riging something else just because you already have it.
