Re: boosting sohc
personally i wouldn't boost any sohc non vtec motor unless it was a y7. The 1.5 liters...except for d15b's have weak ass rods. Just save up and swap in a z6 or d15b.

Re: boosting sohc
going to raise the compression with the mini me which personally I woundn't boost. As stated above just get a 1.6 non vtec for cheap and get it tuned and you will be happy and it should last if you dont do anything stupid. have fun

Re: boosting sohc
What about D16a6's sohc mshue? I've heard they have good strong rods.
My current setup is a d16y8 sohc turbo
not running yet, want to do it right the first time
and btw, I've heard that D-series head studs stretch easily under boost, so get some ARPs or AEMS? some shit like that.

Re: boosting sohc
D16a6's are great to boost. Basically any 1.6 sohc is good. Be careful with the timing on that y8. They have very very different timing maps from other sohc's. ARP studs are a good thing to have, but the "headgasket" problem that many people experience with sohc's imo is because they are running too much timing and knocking like crazy on their motors. Most of them are on y8's because they try running d16z6 timing maps on the motors.
