boost spike!!!

Unhappy boost spike!!!

need help it spikes around 5-6000 rpm and its fucking iritating is it the waistegate or a leak in the manifold???a lil help i got a t3-t4 turbo, tial 38mm waiste, greddy b.o.v., custom manifold, and piping, spearco front mount, p28 comp. chipped to run 9 lbs butthe gauge reads up 20 sometimes it confusing...lil help

What kind of gauge do you have, could be that. Get a more accurate reading.

What is the wg set at?

What kind of boost control is it?

wg is set at 10 lbs and the boost cont. is in the comp, and its a autometer boost gauge

check your vacuum hose. Are you sure it is connected properly? I would also use the intake manifold as a boost reference or boost source signal vice the compressor. What type of boost controller is this?

its a hxs boost controler, and i just replaced the boost lines and the intake manifold is the first reference point

autometer gauges dont have the best rep for boost gauges.


i would definitely check that first.

it aint the boost gauge its round 5k rpms that it starts popping n wont let the turbo or car climb any higher and when i shift its fine again till 5 or 6k

around 5k, im guessing, would be when it hits full boost and spikes.


so yes, it could be the gauge.

but i dunno.

HKS boost controller.... I'm assuming that it is an electronic boost controller then. We'll, have you tried disconnecting the electronic boost controller and just run it off a wastegate spring? What size wastegate spring do you currently have?

I really doubt that it is the boost gauge. Boost gauges will not cause a "boost spike".... it may indicate a "spike" if the gauge is bad. But to actually cause a spike, it has be to be a mechanical or signal issue....

How is your boost controller hooked up? Can you take a pic and show it to us?
