Default battery troubles

ok i have a problem. my battery in my car keeps dieing. i jump start my car and drive around for maybe 30 min and then my tach stops working and my car runs really shitty and sometimes cuts off. then i try to re-start it and my battery is completely dead. i bought a brand new battery and it did the same thing. i charged the battery, got my car running and while it was idleing i took the negative termnal off my battery and the car immediately shut off. so my question is could my alternator be the problem because it isnt charging my battery back up and my battery dies while im driving.. help me please!

if you disconnect the cable and the car dies it means the alternator isnt charging, all the battery really does is start the car, the alternator does the rest.

sounds like it... you should be able to take your battery completely out of your car and it stay running if your altenator is working right......I think you can take it to advance and they can load test it........If your altenator is not working then the car is just running off the juice in the battery;hence when the battery dies the car dies

It sounds like you definitely have a bad alternator. If you are running a stock sound system, a stock output alternator would be an alright replacement. If you are running an upgraded sound system with subs, amps, and whatnot, then you may want to consider buying a Powermaster High Output Alternator.

do that and watch mr ECM get fried. voltage spikes and electronics do not mix.

maybe your battery is giong bad. is it maint free? if not, check the water. if it is, then run the car on the free way 60mph or so, then check it with a meter. while it's running and if it's like 14 something volts, then turn it off if yuor battery isn't like atleast 12.5 then your battery is dead.
