b18c1 making odd noise..Help
 

So lately my b18c1 starting makeing an odd noise. I was running 5psi on stock internals for months with no problems. Then I ran 7psi on stock internals for less then 10 minutes and when i parked it , the next morning it started sounding like a lifter was bad. I checked the lifters and they seem to be fine. Anyone know what else could be wrong?

well rocker arms or wt ever,.. Any suggestions of wts making the noise?.. Like could a valve be messed up or something?

a noise with a motor is hard to determine over the internet, it could be a rod knock, valve tick or both.

where are you located?

is it a loud fast ticking noise, or does it sound like metal on metal death?

or does it sound a subie with an exhaust?

could be a stuck or bent valve, snapped connecting rod...or your valves might just need adjusting

And is there a way you could get a video up of the car running? That would make it a little bit more easier of identifying the problem.

This is something to ask about. What fuel management are you using?

heck even an FMU is "safe" at these levels but . . .

It sounds like a Subie with exhaust.. escpecially when the car is moving at low speeds it sounds like subie

That sounds like an exhaust leak, or else I'm completely misunderstanding what you're trying to describe. Also, if you've replaced the spark plugs recently, you might have forgot to tighten one.

Is this a mechanical clattering noise, or a funny exhaust noise?

you are running on 3 cylinders. so turn the car on and let it run, then pull the plug wires out of the head one at a time, when you pull one out and it doesn't change the motor, you found your dead cylinder..

could be cracked ringlands, bad rings, you might dropped a valve and had piston to valve contact which would make a lot of noise ....

Or properly torque the spark plugs. My cousin installed new spark plugs and 1 wasn't tight = Subiesound!

so just curious as to what your fuel management is. is it top secret or non-existent based on your lack of answer?

not for nothin but check the valve spring retainers i had one break on me b4 and the car still ran but it sounded horrible inside the head but first things first did you pull the valve cover and even look in their yet?

ya pulled valve cover and my friend checked a few things, was gonna do a compression test but didnt get time to,... and my fuel management is DSM 450cc injectors on a basemap

Turn up the boost and see if it gets worse please. It'll help with our Diagnosis.

Awesome. I suggest turning up the boost +10psi more. You are not taking advantage of that tune.

It'll run much better in this temperature
