B18a1 Oil Leak Problem!!!
So here's wats up.... so I figured my oil pan gasket was bad cuz when I got my da that's what the owner said but it wasn't all that bad. Since about a month ago it started leaking real bad and drippin on the exhaust so it would smoke. So I changed the gasket and thought it would be ok....NOT. so I just changed it again yesterday and cleaned everything I could to make sure it had a good seal on it, its a rubber gasket I put on and was told i didn't need sealent but I put it on anyway( figured it wouldn't hurt). So today when I got home its still smoking and leaking oil. I'm pretty sure its not my head gasket but not 100%. Is there anything else it could be. I was thinking maybe the bolts holding the oil pan on might be old and its leaking through but I have no idea. PLEASE HELP!!!

Drain plug is fine, cam seal is good. So is the valve cover. I'm pretty sure I got the filter on plenty tight as well but will check again in the am. Thanks tho

Clean the engine, and see where fresh oil appears. If it's enough oil to coat your exhaust and smoke, it shouldn't be very hard to see where it's coming from.
And don't overtighten the oil filter, because it can cause it to leak at the interface seal. And because there is no possible reason that it would be necessary to tighten it that much.

Ok so I did a little research and my conclusion is the rear main seal AND the oil seal r both bad. Its dripping right by the oil pump ( driver side front of engine) and by the tranny ( passenger side rear of engine)

the rear main seal isnt too hard to replace, but you will need to remove the trans in order to fix it, iirc. they are charging you labor mainly and if you dont have anyway to get it done, its a pretty fair price.

id say thats a pretty fair price for that job. but if you do have a basic set of tools and feel comfortable doing it yourself research how to do it. if you can it shouldnt take any longer than 8 hours and 100 bucks
