Default B18a1 and D16z6 turbo questions

Im looking to do alittle head work and maybe low comp. pistons. My other option and i really do want its a B18a1 with the TD04hl turbo. With the ls s gonna do low comp. piston and head work. Commonly found on the Saab 9.3 & 9.5, these turbos are relatively small, and internally gated. In addition, they do not have the traditional T3 exhaust housing flange that Honda B (& D) series motors are so accustomed to using. With that being said, you may be better off junking this turbo, and using a standard T3-T04 unit, if you dont wanna go through the headache of finding someone to fab flanges to match the inlet and outlet turbine housing flanges of the TD04HL for the manifold & downpipe. Either that, or you'll have to make an adaptor plate.

As far as the swap goes, I would go with the B18A1, or better yet a B1, so you'll be OBD1 from the start. You can find a used standard Garret or Precision T3-T04E 50 trim or 57 trim turbo on this site or Honda-Tech.com pretty easy, and for little dough. And don't set a goal on psi alone. Choose a power goal, discuss it with your tuner, and he'll use whatever psi your setup will give him to make that particular goal.
