hey i have a 99 si and at 1900 rpms the engine wants to surge does anyone know anything about this.

what do you mean surge; at idle?

what kind of CAI do you have?



check your coolant level.

it doesnt surge at idle just at 1800, 1900 rpms. an like the engine is just jumping back and forth. it has a aem cold air intake on it. an when you start it up it will idle kind of low. thanks

i would tell you to check the idle control sensor but i think yours is a throttle cable. Try adjusting the idle up to 750 -1000 were it should be.

how would IAC or throttle cable adjustment affect the engine operation at 1900 rpm

Im just saying that i have a exploer sport trac and same thing happend to me. I would be driving or sitting at a light with foot on brak and the car woudl drop to like 500 rpm and up to like 2000rpm, th throtle control sensor was bad. Just giving you ideas.

fords are notorious for having IAC issues.....but this guys complaint is at off idle....which is not controlled by that.


although, there really isnt enough info from the guy to tell, but it is a possiblity there is a slight misfire, or a hiccup in the TPS voltage..

thanks for all the info but its fixed and it was the iac
