Default b series wont rev past 4000

im working with a swapped eg.....its a obd2 motor, along with the ecu for said motor. wont rev past 4000. has a slightly high idle. could be anything i guess, it was just thrown together. yall will probably be able to figure it out imidiatley, i just know nothing about this car. it had a motor go bad in it, and had another one put in, and abandoned halfway through. car runs good down the road. just wont go past 4000. it ran great before. im asuming somethings not hooked up right, i just need to know what.

If there are no changes to air/fuel delivery this wont be the case. See originial post.

its a obd2 motor, along with the ecu for said motor

sounds like it could be the distributor i.e. coil, ignitor etc. or possibly the ECU could be in limp mode although it's not very common. what motor and ecu are you running?

a b18 and matched ecu. obd2. i thought it was a limp mode thing too.....but 5000 rpm, is that limp mode? (itll rev to that, then fuel cut/rev limiter/whatever) i just really need the writeup for a obd2 swap......like, sensors used, and vacume routing......i dont know whats used and not used. AGAIN this thing ran fine, blew the motor up, and this is a suplicate of the old motor. obd2 b18, thats all i can tell you. EVERYTHING was switched over. i dunno. im used to nissans. know nothing about hondas.

so it had a b18 in it before and blew up? or did it have a single cam and then you decided to replace it with the b18?

i was wondering about the distributor.....i guess they COULD have put it in 180 degrees wrong. ill take a quick look. it was aa previous b18 in the car. the b18 started smoking. the motor in it NOW replaced the one that was smoking. it was put back together, and im only asumming they got all the sensors right. i guess i need to use a scanner, the whole cars been converted to obd2. i DO have a check engine light.
