I have a simple but very important question...

Before I ask the question here is the scenario:
*I have a b16 transmission (hydro)
*I have a b18(Ls) transmission (cable)
*BUT I have a hydro EG
*I have a b20 turbo setup

** I want the LS gearing but I also want the HYDRO setup because i don't feel likeconverting the car to cable.... pedals etc etc

My question is...

CAN YOU INTERCHANGE THESE TWO TRANSMISSIONS BELLHOUSINGS TO SUIT MY NEEDS?

I'M THINKING THAT YOU CAN JUST SWAP THEM RIGHT OUT?

Can someone help me solve this please....

I say just sell/trade the cable ls for a hydro one.

 

It depends what year the cable tranny is. If it is 92-93 your are good. If it is 91 or older i dont believe you can do anything. Take the 5 gear out and swap it into the whole b16 tranny and you are good to go. I believe the bell housings are not interchangeable. I think the cases would not line up.

 

why change out the 5th gear? and let's say the bellhousings matched up somehow... would it be possible? btw...im not too familiar with transmissions and gears etc. so if anyone is close to portsmoth and would throw in a hand or something that would be sweet. can pay or feed and chill with ya lol... thanks

 

tried to sell... no one will give me anything close to what i need for A hydro... my ls is brand new rebuilt from jasper ith no miles. havent even put in axles yet.

Like 00civichatch said, if the cable tranny came out of a 92-93 LS/GS/RS then you can swap gears around with the hydros. If it is a 1st gen cable from any 90-91 then the answer is no you can not swap ANYTHING at all. Apples and oranges.
