ATTN: Anyone with retrofitted HID projectors...
Have you had issues passing safety inspection?
I'm trying to retrofit some Valeo Projectors with DS2 HID bulbs into my 5th gen Honda Prelude this winter.
I know that retrofitting headlights means they no longer meet DOT and therefor you run the risk of insurance not honoring a claim if an accident occurs at night...just looking for some advice, experience, insight from those who have retrofitted HID projector headlights,
thanks.

get the short bulbs if you do it, and you will be less likely to fail inspection or get pulled for it. on the qualudes, people take a screwdriver and bend the reflector to make the bulb fit, which throws the light pattern off. to be technical, they dont pass inspection (most produce more then 32 candle power on a meter) or of a non approved type.
^ I think you might be misunderstanding me, I'm not just getting an HID kit, I'm retrofitting Valeo projectors into the stock housing from a Audi TT. The aiming will be done such that the cutoff is within DOT requirements. They are going to look so good that a technician that doesn't know Preludes might not even realize that the projectors aren't stock on the car.
