AP1 with 4.56 gears
I got some Richmond 4.56 gears put in my s2k last month and all I have to say is amazing. The car feels completely different. The gears were also my first performance mod. They have some whine to them but I dont think I could drive a s2k with out the gears. I highly recommend the 4.56/4.57 gears for an AP1.

Re: AP1 with 4.56 gears
I never understood why anyone wastes the money on 4.56's. 4.77's are the only way to go if you are going to do it IMO. THe ignorant peope say " I didn't want to be in vtec on the interstate". You aren't in vtec on the interstate until 99mph in 6th gear. And they are like 400 more rpm's than 4.56's. Congrats on almost getting it right

Re: AP1 with 4.56 gears
The gears were not installed wrong, there is just a little whine because it's not a factory gearing. I got the 4.56 gears because they were a good buy and I am very happy with them. No need to try to flame me because I am happy with a mod that isnt super aggressive on my dd.

Re: AP1 with 4.56 gears
Noise is normal for aftermarket gears; it's hard to get factory noise levels with a gear that has a stronger tooth root profile and mesh or a different helical angle.
As long as they're set up properly, and the mesh is properly checked, you should be good to go.

Re: AP1 with 4.56 gears
I've driven 2 S2000s with these very gears amd no noise. One I only drove a few times but the other one I'm quite familiar with and drove on and off for over a year.
The gears were installed at Accuracy, made noise, taken back, rechecked, made no noise.
So to me, noisy 4.56s in an S2000 makes me say improper install.
